New tool to help you research unknown job areas

Posted by Gemma Ludgate on 27 May 2014

The fact that approximately 70% of graduate employers have no significant interest in the subject you have studied your degree in, only the skills you've gained in doing so (e.g. analytical skills, communication skills etc) comes up frequently in my discussions with students who don't wish to remain in the veterinary or science sectors.
For these students, researching job areas that they nothing about is very challenging.

If you are in this situation I’m pleased to be able to suggest a new tool…

10 minutes with

… is a collection of recorded interviews with people who work in a variety of different jobs talking about what they do, how they do it and crucially how to get into it. These videos last for (you guessed it) 10 minutes.

All you need to do to get started is:
1. Go to
2. Click on register
3. Enter your student e-mail address (your RVC email address will be accepted)
4. Create your own account
5. You will be sent and e-mail confirming your registration

If you find 10 minutes with useful you may also want to check out Career Player.
