Help with funding for overseas students.

Posted by KarenDeadfield on 15 December 2014

The Hammond Trust is managed by The British Council and accepts applications for grants to assist with living expenses from overseas students studying in the UK. There is a list of countries which are covered by the programme, mainly in Asia and the Middle East. The funding is to be used to help students complete the last six months of a course of study, or complete a piece of research that has unavoidably overrun, and the student is therefore struggling to finance their time in the UK. The Trust does not make any payments towards tuition fees and grants are for living expenses only.

UKCISA is a great one-stop shop to answer questions about living and studying in the UK

Sometimes it can be confusing trying to find the best websites to help you answer questions about visas or how systems work in the UK. One I often recommend is run by the UK Council for International Student Affairs (UKCISA) which is the national advisory body for International Students. It offers advice and useful links to answer a wide range of questions about living and studying in the UK. It has sections for those thinking about studying here and wanting help to choose a course and for students already here who might have questions about visas, rules about working while studying or how to access health services. And they have a section for what to do if you are preparing to return home after your course ends. You can find all this and more here: http://www.ukcisa.org.uk/ or via the link on the International Futures site.
